Should not do this 2 cheers

It’s naïve to think Apple doesn’t offer more because of lack of knowledge. To enhance .mac they only have to decide it.

    Should not do this

Eh, not everything needs to be converted into Web apps.

    Should do this 1 cheer

Apple should hook up Mail.app into gmail (i.e. syncing tags, flags/stars, etc. into something like IMAP on steroids); hook iCal into google calendars (similar but better than what Spanning Sync does); hook Safari into Google Reader (similar but better than what Firefox does with Google Sync and Google Offline) and ; and iWork into Google Documents (let me have my local documents automatically synced onto google, and allow me to edit them there when i’m on another computer), etc.

Let Apple put their design energy into making it fast and powerful on the desktop side, elegant on the web side, invisible and seamless in between, and let Google do the tech stuff and heavy lifting they’re good at.

i.e. i don’t want to have to jump through this hoop:
