I bought the wired version simply for the numeric keypad. I only use a powerbook and HATE having to use the number keys. I would have preferred the wireless version because my setup doesn’t allow me to sit at a desk (no space), but I NEEDED the numeric pad so here i am, typing on the new wired keyboard.
buy a wireless or usb numpad if you really need it, or buy someone else’s wireless keyboard, i like the space savings myself
After using a laptop exclusively for years, reaching for the mouse on my new wired keyboard seems like a journey of several miles. Boo wide keyboard.
It was on the previous wireless keyboard, and it’s super-convenient. I don’t care if it eats another AAA battery and space, just add it!
I choose not to buy one just because of the lack of a keypad. I have a wireless mouse and wired keyboard on my super new 2.8GHz 24” iMac.
I agree, there should be compact and extended wireless keyboards.
and hey, for those of us who edit media all day long, how’bout a wireless keyboard with a jog/shuttle touch strip and full-size transport controls? :)
They should sell both a number pad version, and a non number pad version.
The wireless keyboard should be as small as possible. The number pad is the perfect thing to get rid of.
I didn’t try the new iMac keyboard, but i use the MacBookPro and don’t miss a minute the number pad, but that’s just my point!
Having used the old (white plastic) wireless keyboard, I must say that I find it useful to have the number pad. I use it all the time. While it’s space saving to miss it out, some of us may still want the freedom to use the number pad with a wireless keyboard.
